Success is natural habits.
We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle
He didn’t say it was good or bad. but you’ve successfully made whatever it is that your continously doing into a habit. The success part is the automation of it, without giving thought to what your doing thus becoming a habit.
Our habits are also our character. We’ve identified ourselves and sometimes without our permission to make things habit.
Going to the gym is a habit. But the reasons why you go the gym also are a habit of thoughts that have made you believe that you are going to the gym for that reason.
But what if the reasons are not the real reasons? You might say I go to the gym to build muscle and stay fit. But what if you’ve successfuly made it a habit to think on a deeper level that “I am going to the gym because I am insecure with my body, thus I have to maintain it so I can continue to maintain my persona as a “fit” person, plus I look really good.”
There’s always an underlying reason. You see we don’t get what we want, we get what we “really” want. It’s called a payoff.
You might say you want to go to the gym to stay fit. but what you may really want is to maintain your persona as a fit person and keep your insecurities at bay.
I’m not saying all people think this way. But our society has influenced us so much to believe in things that sometimes just don’t fit into our scheme of things.
Successful habits are core beliefs that rest in our natural state of being. They are choices, conscious choices that we’ve acknowledged, recognized, and accepted about ourselves.
We then allow these to unfold naturally.
Let your habits be natural.
